Our Non-Profit

Guided by trusted leaders and mentors, our Collective Community Association shares a vision rooted in care, collaboration, and the well-being of children and families. Together, their collective wisdom shapes a stronger, more connected future.

Our Board of Directors bring decades of leadership in health care, law, education, and labour relations. Deeply connected to their communities, they blend professional expertise with lived experience as parents and advocates. Their guidance strengthens Twig + Owl's non-profit association dedicated to advancing modern, high-quality, and inclusive childcare within the public school system.

Sharon Marmion, MSW 

Patient Services Manager, VCH

Sharon has 27 years of experience in senior leadership roles within Providence Health Care and Vancouver Coastal Health’s Mental Health & Substance Use Services, including clinical planning, operations management, program development, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement with eight years experience as a Patient Care Manager for both inpatient and ambulatory care services. Sharon is a long-time resident of the North Shore and has two children who were educated in the NVSD schools.

Alexis Shouldice, JD, BA

Senior Legal Director D-Wave Systems Inc.

Alexis completed her studies at UBC, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History, and earned her Juris Doctor with a concentration in Business Law. For 15 years, she has worked in various legal roles and currently serves as Senior Legal Director. She volunteers with the North Shore Baseball Association and the Parent Advisory Committee at Montroyal Elementary. She lives on the North Shore and has two children, who attend Montroyal Elementary School.

Scott Ashton, RSE MTMS 

Assistant Business Manager IBEW Local 213 

Scott oversees the Personnel and Education Departments, including curriculum development for member training programs at IBEW Local 213. As a senior leader, he is integral to the Business Manager’s operations team and advises on labour law and organizational management. Scott has extensive knowledge of the BC Societies Act and nonprofit governance practices, structures and policies. He serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Local 213 Pension and Benefits Plans and holds multiple director and trustee roles in related organizations. He also represents IBEW 213 on various labour committees. A long-time North Shore resident, Scott has two children, who were educated in NVSD schools.

Ann Copp, B-Ed

Former NVSD Principal

Ann is a highly respected education leader who has served the North Vancouver School District in multiple roles, including as Principal of Seymour Heights Elementary. Known for her thoughtful, community-minded leadership, she has championed inclusive learning, family engagement, and educator development across the district. Ann also teaches in the Capilano University Education Assistant Program, supporting the next generation of classroom professionals. Her work reflects a deep belief in collaboration, culturally responsive practice, and creating welcoming spaces where every learner can thrive.  Ann is long time North Shore Resident, who has two children that were educated in the NVSD schools.

Ladan is a passionate and dedicated early childhood educator with over 19 years of experience in childcare. She is committed to creating a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that fosters children’s growth and development.
Ladan has boundless energy and finds sincere enrichment in supporting the next generation of ECEs as well as educators who are new to Canada. She is a long-time resident of the North Shore and has two children and three grandchildren, all of whom were or are currently being educated in NVSD schools.

Deborah has worked for 27 years in early childhood education on the North Shore both with the North Shore Neighbourhood House and Capilano University Children’s Centre.
She is passionate about professional development, with a recent focus on Truth Healing and Reconciliation, which includes the Four Seasons of Indigenous Learning through the Outdoor Learning School. Deborah currently mentors thru the Spectrum Mothers Support Society. Deborah is a long-time North Shore resident and has two children, who were educated in NVSD schools.
